Enabling light state polling will allow you to know the status (is it on or off) of your smart light, dimmer, outlet or exernal switch from looking at the app or website. The "on" or "off" button will be highlighted for a given light that has this feature enabled. See the following picture:
If the feature is not automatically enabled for your account (or you have more than 10 lights in your system), follow these instructions on the website:
1) Login to your account on the building36.com website
2) Go to light card details (click arrow on top right of lighting card)
3) Click on the wheel in the upper left of a given light
4) Check the "show light status" for the light(s) that you want to show status.
A picture is attached below as an example.
Note: There is a limitation of 10 lights for a given modem for this feature. This feature causes the lights to poll frequently, which can slow down your Z-wave network if too many lights have polling enabled, hence the limitiation on the number to ensure good network performance.
We recommend that you enable this for the most important lights in your house, and if you have more than 10, set lighting schedules for the other lights to automatically turn them on or off each day so that you will never have a light left on for more than a day.
